Photo taken October 27, 2015 from Mt Tinbeerwah, situated between Tewantin and Cooroy on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
I arrived just after 4.00am to see that the moon was about to disappear behind a huge dark cloudbank. The photo I had envisaged was the moon setting very close to Mt Cooroora (that’s the small dark shape, below and a little to the left of the setting moon path) with the moonlight reflecting out of the waters of the lake at the bottom of the image.
However, because of the cool morning air after the evening storm the day before, all the lowland areas had filled with morning fog. I was able to take only three photos before the moon disappeared behind the clouds, not to be seen again that day.
What I like about this image is the way the light from the moon appears as though it’s coming down from heaven.
